Emo Fashion in 2010

Emo fashion and punk fashion could perhaps be the subjects of talk in the town in the year 2010. Many people have started realizing that Emo fashion has lots to offer apart from the traditional emo hairstyles. Undoubtedly, the popularity graph of emo fashion is on the rise that was not visible during the earlier part of the 21st century. Emo fashion in 2010 offers lots of new trends and ideas not only for the hairstyles but also for the cool clothing fashion.

Emo fashion in 2010 includes bright and new trendy colored wristbands, artistic chains with logos of musical instruments, newer fabrics for emo clothes, cute looking emo hairbands, subtle looking emo handbags, stylish sports and casual shoes, and above all, all-new emo hairstyles with diverse lengths and hair colors and highlights. Emo punk music bands and their icons are also contributing greatly to introducing newer trends in emo fashion in 2010. It is only because of the strong and charming appeals and staying powers that emo fashion in 2010 would survive for a much longer period than the other mainstream fashions.

Hairstyles 2010

2010 Hairstyles

Hairstyles make a significant part of our appearance. With a suitable hairstyle, your face can be beautified, whereas an inappropriate hairstyle can ruin your personality. Therefore, hairstyles must be chosen with care. While choosing hairstyles for yourself, it is necessary to know about the latest trends, because an outdated hairstyle will only make you look like a joker. However, being influenced by only hairstyle trends can also make you end up looking funny.

So, do not be a fool and choose your hairstyle, keeping in mind your face cut and personality, together with the latest trends and celebrity hairstyles. There are a number of fabulous hairstyles which are gaining trend these days. You can opt for any one of them that suits your face. You also need to keep in mind the trends of the industry in which you work. After all, you are also supposed to perform your duties apart from being a fashion freak.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga and Her Fashion statement

Celebrities make fashion statements and their fans follow it. One such celebrity who is famous for her unique style is Lady Gaga. Her fashion statement is different and she morphs her style. The style can well be called as modern and futuristic and in her dance videos, she is often seen scantily clad.

Celebrity Hairstyle: Lady Gaga

If you have seen her videos, you will know that this girl’s fashion meter is different from many other celebrities and this is why she is able to make a mark in whatever she wears. In the early days of her career, she made hot pants a must have for many girls out there.

Celebrity Hairstyle: Lady Gaga Fashion

It is seen that in her fashion sense, she is able to understand the human sense of self-expression and incorporate that into her clothes. Her icons are Donatella Versace and Peggy Bundy. Lady gaga’ style is individual yet becoming universal. She has designed a number of her own outfits for the stage shows that she does.

Celebrity Hairstyle: Lady Gaga On the Street

She puts on loud make up on some parts of her face and on other parts she keeps the make up subtle. If anyone is asked to imagine her, the first picture that comes to the mind is of a girl who wears huge shoulder pads and sketches out her eyelashes while wearing platinum blonde make-up.

Celebrity Hairstyle: Lady Gaga Make up

The clothes she wears on stage are simply awesome and she has been seen wearing some of the most extravagant pair of heels in her videos. Fashion is everything for her and she turned blonde from being a brunette.

Retro St. Christopher Medals

St. Christopher Medal in Pink

You don't have to be Catholic to appreciate these retro St. Christopher medals from Get Back Designs that surfers wore in the 60's and 70's. Since St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers we think they'd look hip on our next adventure whether it's to Costa Rica or South Beach.  We're partial to the silver and pink version above which is only $14; but there are endless combinations available. Safe travels!

A Peek Inside Shoshanna's Carry On

shoshanna
We recently had the opportunity to talk with one of our fave designers, Shoshanna Gruss about what she takes in her carry on when she travels. Her hubby is an avid fisherman so Shoshanna's favorite vacation destinations are anywhere he can fish, including Deep Water Cay in the Bahamas and Cape Cod. Here's what she carries on the road.

My carry on is either a large L.L. Bean Boat and Tote bag

or Chanel Cocoon. Both are big and roomy, aren't too fancy and are light to carry.

I almost always wear black leggings, a black tank and an American Apparel oversized sweater when I travel. I love their sexy basics.

I use EOS Lip Balm. It's egg-shaped so it's easy to find in my bag. I use Lancome Hypnose mascara.

When I'm going to the beach, I make sure I have my Venus Bikini razor so I'm swimsuit ready.

I get every magazine and I read every magazine. Details and Vanity Fair have fun and interesting articles. When I'm done, I leave them on the plane for others.

When it comes to tunes, I'm kind of a nerd. I like James Taylor, Billy Joel, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and Christopher Cross.

Thanks, Shoshanna for letting us peek!

Easy Travel Dresses

Casual dresses are great for travel, because they're easy to pack and accessorize. We're always on the lookout for ones that don't wrinkle and are cute but comfortable. On her recent trip to Chicago, Hope wore a little black Michael Kors dress on her eight hour bike tour of the city. It looked great at lunch, as a beach coverup, and even at the Cubby Bear for a mid-afternoon beer break. Activewear companies have taken notice and designed technical dresses with good looks. Here are a few we found:

Merrill Lily dress

Merrill Lily dress with UV sun protection, quick dry material and built in shelf bra. $55

Patagonia Corinne Dress

Patagonia's Corinne Dress has great style and quick dry nylon fabric. $75
Althleta Sundry dress

Athleta's Sundry dress is a travel-girl's dream, it comes in six colors, is made of moisture wicking Tectel, and can be worn three different ways: as a halter, strapless, or as a skirt.  It's perfect apres beach or just window shopping in the afternoon on Lincoln Road. $59

Rent the Runway Part 2

Rent the Runway

Our second take with Rent the Runway went as well as the first. To recap: with Rent the Runway, you choose a designer dress at a fraction of the cost, which you have for four days. The dresses come pressed and ready to wear and when you're finished, mail them back in the pre-paid envelope. It couldn't be easier!

We even convinced our friend Heidi to give it a go. Her Herve Leger dress was a hit on a trip to NY (even if her hubby thought it was a bit too sexy for their crowd). See how she wore it with the zipper in front like all the cool girls! She was so impressed she rented two more dresses since the Herve.

Rent the Runway

I chose a Rebecca Taylor silk dress for the Hotel Palomar's Dress for Success event in DC (that's me on the far right with Rebecca). It was such a beautiful pattern-the photos don't do it justice- and it was so easy to wear, I was sad to mail it back. Plus, I used a $25 off coupon that RTR sent me making it even more affordable.

Now that Rent the Runway has been featured in InStyle, watch out that your favorite dresses will be harder to reserve. You can schedule your rentals months out, so think ahead for special occasions.  Also, since our girls' trips usually go from Thursday to Sunday,  if I find a great dress, I'm going to have RTR send it straight to the hotel.  No packing, no ironing, and I can send it back before I leave the hotel.

To further sweeten the deal, CoverGirl is teaming up with Rent the Runway. Rent a dress and receive a free CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast with expert tips from CoverGirl’s Creative Design Director, Pat McGrath. while supplies last

Madewell.com Open for Business

Until last week, visiting Madewell.com was a tease:  you could look at their cool Tees and jeans, but you couldn't buy anything.  For a couple of girls who spend more time than we'd like to admit at the computer, it's a treat to finally have access to these great casual staples any time of day.

We've bought their jeans, super-soft and perfectly worn in t-shirts, scarves and boots from Madewell in the past.  Here's what is tempting us on the website:

The gardener romper is a weekend dream:

Madewell shorts

Cut-offs are big this summer; but if you can't bear to hack up your $250 jeans like us, try Madewell's slim slouch shorts:

Madewell jeans
We buy a new pair of white jeans before every trip to Miami. This pair of skinny ankle jeans would look great with just about everything in the closet:
This pair of two-toned oxfords is the sharpest we've seen and we'd wear them with the romper, shorts, jeans or even a sundress.
