A 2010 Hair Trends Watch

When it comes to appearances, there is no denying the importance of hair. Feeling good about your hair can easily translate to a strong sense of overall confidence, while a "bad hair day" can put a damper on anyone's good mood. Fortunately, one of the best things about hair is its sheer versatility; you can wear it long or short, straight or curly, up or down, and in virtually any color imaginable. This offers a unique opportunity for experimentation, making hairstyles one of the best ways to partake in new and exciting trends - and make no mistake, there are new hair trends emerging each and every year, if not every season. Here are a few of the biggest hair trends to watch in 2010:

# The shoulder-grazing bob. Also known as a "long bob," this look first caught fire when it was spotted on Katie Holmes. Since then, Gwyneth Paltrow has adopted the style, to dazzling effect. It combines the edginess of a classic bob with the femininity of a longer hairstyle, and the extra length means fewer trims are necessary to maintain the look. Long bobs are also very easy to care for and style; most women choose simply to smooth hair with a flat iron and add shine serum for a glossy finish.
# Sideswept bangs. Bangs are a perennial favorite, thanks to their ability to soften any style and complement nearly every face shape. While blunt-cut bangs were all the rage a few years back, many women now prefer the prettier, more romantic vibe that sideswept bangs impart. These longer bangs, seen on celebs like Nicole Richie, are also easier to grow out, making them an ideal compromise for those who are not entirely sold on the concept of fringe.
# Long, curly "fairytale hair." Call it the Taylor Swift Effect! With her back-grazing blonde curls, Taylor has set off a bona fide hair trend that is particularly popular among teens. Fortunately, it is a youth-appropriate look that is easy to duplicate, and maintenance is as simple as removing split ends and curling (if necessary). Expect to see this style at high school proms all over the country this year!

2010 Hair Trends

2010 hairstyle trends will feature a lot of new looks: there are the new hair trend heavily influenced by the recent Spring 2010 catwalks, and there are the reworkings and evolutions of last year's hair trends. Below are Fashionising.com's top picks for hair styles in 2010, with seasonal styles alongside looks for hair from short to long. For more on hair cut trends keep reading.
Plaited & Braided hair

The popularity of milkmaid braids in 2009 evolves into the braided hairstyle trend in 2010. While it's natural for hair trends to evolve between the years, the resurgence of plaited / braided hair is mostly as a result of the hairstyle heavily featuring on the Spring 2010 catwalks. Particularly prominent on Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 runway, we also spotted them at Miuccia Prada's Miu Miu Spring 2010 and, increasingly, amongst street style pictures.

There are two distinct braided hairstyle looks for 2010: the long side braid, and the fish plait as seen on the Missoni Spring 2010 catwalk.

Medium Prom Hairstyles

Medium hair can be styled anyhow. You can make them look shorter by curling or making them wavy or use them as long hair for hair updo and buns. Medium hair is easy to manage as well as easy to style. Another advantage of medium length hair is that you can go in for almost any hairstyle that does not require very long or very short hair.

Use medium length hair for updo & buns for prom: You can use medium length hair to make updo. Almost any updo is possible, only thing is you need to practice much. Also, also if you want to go in for updo that requires hair braiding or hair twisting, you will need to grow your hair a little longer so the length does not go short when the updo is created. If the chosen style requires a little longer hair, you can always you artificial hair stuffing and hair extension if required.

Hair Salons

A beauty salon or beauty parlor (International spelling: beauty parlour) (or sometimes beauty shop) is an establishment dealing with cosmetic treatments for men and women.[1] Other variations of this type of business include hair salons and

Have ever dreamed of having your own hair salon? What would it be if you had all the information you need at your fingertips. Your first concern should be finding and securing a location. That, plus the adequate entrepreneurial spirit, will help you succeed as a hair salon owner. There are two aspects to a location that you need to consider. The first is if you will be relying on foot traffic and the second is if you already have a good clientele. If you have your followers you will need to locate somewhere that is convenient to them. If you are relying on people coming and going, you should locate somewhere that gets a lot of traffic. Be confident, make a business plan and have fun!

Your Stylist: Short hair styles you won't regret cutting

Williams

Amen! The grass is always greener when it comes to girls and their hair. When it’s all grown out, you are inspired to get a cute bob cut, but when it’s chopped, all you want are your long and lovely locks back. It seems you just can’t win. But the best thing is to embrace and be thankful for your healthy hair and go with the cut that suits your face and style best.

Since you are confident with a short hair cut, here are some styles that I personally love:

Michelle Williams has a great short cut that isn’t a pixie but still has that gamine appeal. She’s got long layers on top and piecey strands on the side and back. She still seems to be able to tuck her sides behind her ears and sport different parts to be more sophisticated and dramatic for night and easy and casual for day. To me, this just looks like one of those cuts that gets better the dirtier it gets, so by Day 3 of no washing you still look amazing and chic.

Keratin Hair Treatment

When it comes to hair, I've pretty much done it all. I've permed it, straightened it, colored it, highlighted it, teased it, curled it, braided it, and styled it in just about every way imaginable (except I've never gone really short). So it's not shocking that I decided to do one of the latest fads in hair care - the Brazilian Keratin hair treatment.

What is the Brazilian Keratin treatment, you ask? Well, It is a smoothing and straightening process that you can get to help your hair be virtually maintenance free and frizz free. It's great for those with hair that tends to be frizzy and responds to humidity poorly, such as mine, and it also gives a lot of added shine to your hair, so it makes it look a lot healthier.

This treatment lasts anywhere from 3-5 months, depending on how often you shampoo your hair, since little by little the treatment does come out of the hair naturally, so if you are a person who doesn't shampoo very often, you may be in luck. The cost for this procedure, which takes about two to two and a half hours usually, depending on the length of your hair, runs an average of about $150 per hour.

This means your total bill will fall between $300 and $400 for the process, and you will also need to buy a special shampoo for it that usually runs about $35 for a large bottle, so when it's all said and done, with the tip and shampoo, you're probably looking at an almost $500 bill, give or take a little. My bill happened to be about $485, and I have long hair. The process took 2½ hours for me, and it wasn't bad at all.

I've had the thermal reconditioning done before too (also known as Japanese straightening), and that process took about five hours all together and cost a little more. It also is supposed to last longer though, and your hair is so poker straight that it may not be in everyone's taste because it lacks body for a while.

Paris Hilton sued for $35M for wearing wrong hair

Paris Hilton is being sued for $35 million for wearing someone else’s hair.

The hotel heiress had signed up to promote a range of hair extensions as part of a marketing campaign in 2007 for Hairtech International.

The company reportedly paid her $3.5 million to be the face of their Dream Catchers range of clip-in locks.

But bosses were furious when she allegedly appeared in “magazines and on television” wearing hair extensions made by a competitor.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court states Hairtech International is seeking $35 million in damages for Paris’ breach of contract – 10 times what they paid her for the job.

The company also claims the 29-year-old blonde missed a launch party for the hair extension line because she was in jail.

Paris served 23 days in prison in 2007 after she was caught driving twice on a suspended license while on probation for reckless driving.

Hairtech International say there was an “implied term” in her contract asking her to “obey the law”.

The reality TV star has been sued before for allegedly failing to promote a product.

The producers of movie ‘Pledge This!’ told a court in 2008 she owed them $8.3million – the amount it cost to make the box office flop – because she didn’t promote it properly.

The judge is still deciding if Paris has to pay them.
